Brief History of Unit

Anti-Corruption Organisation was formally created vide U.P. Govt. Order No- 2049/VII-1-64/76 Grih(Police) Anubhag-1, dated April 18, 1977 to combat corruption etc. in Police Department and non Gazetted ranks of other Govt. departments. Earlier, this work was undertaken in a limited manner under the “Complaint Scheme” as envisaged in a G.O. of the year 1956 and later its successor “ Anti-Corruption Administration Branch” as per G.O. of the year 1963, Anti-Corruption Organisation has its headquarters on the 4th floor , Indira Bhawan, Ashok Marg, Lucknow- 226001.The ACO has its unit offices located at various divisional headquarters of the state namely at Lucknow, Faizabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Agra, Bareilly, Moradabad, Meerut, Jhansi & Kanpur.

Anti-Corruption Organisation takes up Enquiry, Investigation of following nature.

• Corruption.
• Extortion.
• Deliberate revengeful and harassing attitude of the Police Officer.
• Willful and malafide use of special emergency powers with ulterior motive.
