Awareness Campaign for Women-related Laws and Rights
Mahila Samman Prakoshth runs a series entitled, "Knows Your Laws, Ask for Your Rights" under which more than 30 standees have been erected in public places, educational institutions and offices across U.P. Handbills, posters and other IEC materials regarding the same subject have also been widely distributed.
These present an easy and accessible summary of the legal provisions regarding topics like Protection of Women From Domestic Violence Act, 2005, Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act, 2013 and offences related to acid attacks, stalking, voyeurism and obscene acts/comments in public places etc.
Part of the work of the police is to make both men and women aware of such laws, and these IEC materials not only spread awareness about these laws, but also deter perpetrators as they highlight punishments and consequences in detail.
